5 Things to Do in the U.S. Virgin Islands with Kids
As all parents know, traveling with children can be challenging. But if you travel to kid-friendly destinations like St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix, the memories you make as a family are well worth it. Before you leave for vacation, do some research on things to keep the kiddos entertained. Or, even better, just take our word for it and try these five things to do in the U.S. Virgin Islands with kids.
1. Snorkel
Depending on the age of your children, snorkeling can be a great excursion for the whole family. Half-day and full-day snorkeling excursions can be booked through the hotel. Plus, guides provide life jackets and equipment. If your kids are too young to snorkel out at sea, many hotels and resorts also provide snorkel equipment rental, so they can practice their snorkeling skills close to shore.
2. Bike Tour
Another great activity in the U.S. Virgin Islands with kids is biking. There are so many great trails and bike tours to go on with the family. Some tours are more mild, while others are on more rigid terrain. Be mindful of your child’s age and experience when planning for these trips.
3. Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is a favorite among kids. The age requirements vary depending on which tour you go on, but generally this activity is limited to children eight years and older.
4. Coral World Ocean Park
Coral World is a popular attraction in St. Thomas. In fact, it has been voted Best Tourist Attraction & Eco Tourism Activity for over ten years by Daily News. Kids (and adults) are blown away by the five-acre ocean park. There are countless activities, exhibits, gifts shops, a conservation and a semi-submarine too. Truly fun for the whole family!
5. Butterfly Garden
There are a few different butterfly gardens in the US Virgin Islands, but the one in Charlotte Amalie is among the best. It’s home to butterfly species from around the world. A walk through the botanical gardens is a great pairing for this activity.
