Horseback Riding in The Virgin Islands

Explore St. Croix's west end from horseback. Guided tours are available for all experience levels. Relax and enjoy the ride along Sandy Pointe Wildlife Refuge to see several indigenous and migratory species in the forest. As you make your way along the trails, you are introduced to the lore of rainforest flora and fauna. You will then climb the hills and ride along the ridgeline to enjoy the spectacular hilltop views. Riders of every skill level are accommodated, and a variety of rides are offered.

Horseback Riding just outside of Frederiksted at the Equestrian Stables will take you on a variety of trails through the rainforest, past the island's only dam, and up to plantation ruins for a view. Your guide along the way will point out colorfully named natural features like the "monkey no climb tree," and wildlife.

For the ride wear long pants or slacks and shoes for protection. Saddlebags for cameras are provided. Unless your staying in Frederiksted, it is best to come here on the day that you rent a car as the RT taxi fare for two may be comparable anyway.

The Virgin Islands best tropical trail ride is not complete without a ride along the beach. This ride will allow you to take in the memory of the beautiful waves and the blues of the sea with the picturesque coconut trees rising in the background. Many resort facilities offer horseback riding or can direct you to the proper places and help in arranging your horseback adventure.
